I just got back from seeing Transformers. WOW. I really enjoyed the movie. I think it was well-done. I'm not sure I would have chosen the same Autobots and Decepticons the creators did to have in the movie, but the one's they chose were done well. Except maybe Starscream. I wanted them to do more with him, but this movie was done from the human's point of view, so I can forgive that. I expect my Starscream needs to be met in the sequel as they set it up for one since Starscream survived and left Earth at the end during the credits.
I had forgotten how amazing Optimus Prime was and how deep his beliefs ran. Once again, I must admire the character and his convictions. Back when the original cartoon was on TV, I had friends that cried and didn't go to school the next day after the episode where he died. I thought it was silly back then when I was little and hadn't really followed the show, but I understand now how it could effect a child so much who'd been faithfully watching Transformers. I wish I had watched it regularly when it was airing. There have been many incarnations of Transformers since the original series, but I think the only one that does the original justice has been this movie.
I strongly urge anyone who hasn't seen it, to please go see it.
